Yes, you can absolutely use all different flavors of protein powder in ice cream. This is an easy and delicious way to add protein to your diet. If you are looking for a high protein, low sugar keto dessert, try making your own ice cream with protein powder.
Protein ice cream is more filling than regular ice cream because it contains a higher amount of protein, which is a macronutrient that plays a critical role in satiety or the feeling of fullness after a meal.
Regular ice cream, on the other hand, is typically high in sugar and fat, which can lead to a rapid spike in blood sugar followed by a crash, leaving you feeling hungry and craving more food shortly after consumption.
Freeze protein ice cream leftovers in a freezer-safe container tightly covered and store for up to one month in the freezer. To prevent freezer burn, make sure to place a wrap on the top surface of the ice cream and press it down. Then wrap more or place a lid on top.
- Use a high-quality protein powder.
- Use full-fat cottage cheese for a creamier texture.
- Blend the cottage cheese until it is completely smooth to avoid any lumps in the ice cream.
- Sweeten the mixture with a natural sweetener such as stevia or monk fruit to keep the calorie count low.
- Add in your favorite mix-ins, such as nuts or fruit, for added flavor and texture.
- Freeze the ice cream for a few hours before serving to allow it to firm up.
- Enjoy your homemade ice cream in moderation as part of a balanced diet and exercise routine.
