Ingredients needed and substitutions
Crescent Roll Dough - I used Pillsbury 90 calorie crescent dough rolls for this great recipe. You can find a variety of Pillsbury crescent rolls in any local grocery store.
Taco Seasoning mix - For this easy taco ring recipe I used Old El Paso 25% less sodium taco seasoning mix. You can use any packet of taco seasoning I just prefer a lower sodium version.
Ground Chicken - Perdue ground chicken breast was used for this recipe but you could easily swap the chicken with ground turkey or any lean ground beef.
Shredded Cheese - Mexican blend shredded cheese was used for this taco night.

Recipe FAQ's
Yes, you can save crescent roll dough after opening the can, but it's essential to store it properly to prevent it from drying out or becoming unusable. Here are some steps you can follow:
Re-seal the Can: If the can has a resealable cover, use it to seal the dough back inside. Make sure to press the edges of the can to create a tight seal.
Use Plastic Wrap: If the can doesn't have a resealable cover or if you've already opened it, cover the exposed dough with plastic wrap. Press the plastic wrap directly onto the dough to minimize air exposure.
Store in the Refrigerator: Store the covered dough in the refrigerator. The colder temperature will slow down the yeast activity and help prevent the dough from rising too much.
Use within a Few Days: Even when stored properly, crescent roll dough may not stay fresh for an extended period. Try to use it within a few days for the best results.
Consider Freezing: If you know you won't use the dough within a few days, you can freeze it. Divide the dough into portions, wrap each portion tightly in plastic wrap, and then place them in a resealable plastic bag. Label and date the bag, and store it in the freezer. When you're ready to use it, thaw the dough in the refrigerator before baking.
To determine the calorie content of a recipe, you'll need to know the specific ingredients and their quantities. For this chicken chop meat taco ring there are 103 calories per serving which is ⅛th of the taco ring.
If you don't have taco seasoning on hand, you can create your own blend using common spices found in many kitchens. Here's a simple homemade taco seasoning recipe:
1 tablespoon chili powder
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste for spice level)
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon paprika
1 ½ teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
In a small bowl, mix together all the spices until well combined.
Taste the seasoning and adjust the quantities to your liking. If you prefer more heat, add more red pepper flakes. If you like it smokier, you can increase the amount of paprika.
Use the homemade taco seasoning in place of store-bought taco seasoning in your recipes.
