What kitchen tools do I need for this Wholegrain Chocolate Pancake recipe?
- A large mixing bowl
- A Spatula
- A Cast Iron Skillet or Non Stick Pan or Griddle - I used a Cast Iron Skillet
Why are Cast Iron Skillets good for Cooking?
- Food cooks evenly in Cast Iron.
- Cast Iron pans require less oil.
- They act like non-stick pans when seasoned well
- They are tough and durable
- Cast Iron does not leach chemicals but it does leach a small amount of Iron into your food and that is a good thing as about 10% of women are iron deficient...another great bonus!
How do you Season a Cast Iron Skillet?
1: Scrub your skillet with hot soapy water.
2: Dry it thoroughly.
3: Spread a thin layer of melted shortening or vegetable oil over the skillet.
4: Place it upside down on middle oven rack at 375 Degrees F (Place foil on lower rack to catch any drips)
5: Bake 1 Hour; Let cool in the oven.
