Notes
- Choose Lean Protein: Opt for lean ground beef or ground turkey for a healthier twist on the classic Big Mac.
- Seasoning is Key: Season your meat with a blend of spices like garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper to enhance flavor. Or to save time just grab a packet of Old El Paso Taco Seasoning Mix - Low Sodium.
- Burger Press Magic: Use a burger press to ensure uniformity and even cooking of your patties. Aim for a thin layer to achieve that signature smash burger effect.
- Prep Your Ingredients: Finely chop white onion and red onion for that classic Big Mac flavor profile. Shred iceberg lettuce for a crispy texture.
- Heat Things Up: Preheat a hot griddle or skillet over medium-high heat. This will help you achieve a nice sear on your patties.
- Smash It Down: Once your griddle or skillet is hot, place a burger press on the meat and press down firmly to create a thin patty. This helps to maximize surface area for a delicious sear.
- Go Corny: Instead of flour tortillas, use corn tortillas for a unique twist and gluten-free option.
- Cheesy Goodness: Add a generous amount of melty cheese to each patty as it cooks. Cheddar or American cheese works great for that authentic Big Mac flavor.
- Layering is Key: Assemble your tacos by placing a thin layer of shredded lettuce on each tortilla, followed by a cheesy smash burger patty.
- Onion Medley: Top each patty with a mixture of finely chopped white onion and red onion for that classic Big Mac flavor.
- Leftover Taco Hack: Got leftover tacos? Don't let them go to waste! Crumble them up and use them as a delicious topping for your smash taco burger.
