Description

Valentine's Days is a special time of the year to show your love and affection for those you care about. And what better way to do that than with a simple heart shaped cookie recipe.

This simple heart shaped cookie recipe uses only two ingredients, making it the perfect choice for those who want to bake something sweet and special without spending hours in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups of Almond Flour
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons of Maple Syrup
  • Icing if desired

Instructions

  1. Mix - Mix almond flour and maple syrup until combined. Use your hands to shape your dough into a ball - cover in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  2. Prep - Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Roll - Remove your dough from the fridge and place between 2 sheets of parchment paper - flatten with your hand and then roll into a 1/2 inch thick sheet with a wooden rolling pin.
  4. Cut - Remove top sheet of parchment paper and use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
  5. Bake - Place your heart shaped cookies onto your lined baking sheet - cook for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees F.
  6. Serve - Remove from oven, let cool and add icing and sprinkles if desired.

Notes

  • Room temperature ingredients - Make sure all of your ingredients are at room temperature before you start baking. Room temperature ingredients will mix together more easily resulting in a better texture.
  • Measure accurately - Measuring ingredients accurately is crucial to getting the right consistency and flavor in your cookies.
  • Chill the dough - Chilling the dough before baking helps prevent spreading and ensures that your cookies will keep their shape. You can chill the dough for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight for make ahead cookie dough.
  • Bake one sheet at a time - Baking one sheet at a time will ensure that the heat is evenly distributed, resulting in perfectly baked cookies. Also be sure to rotate the sheet halfway through the baking time for even cooking.
  • Store cookies properly - Proper storage is essential to keep your cookies fresh and delicious. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
