Notes
- Choose the right fish:Ā Opt for firm-fleshed fish like cod, tilapia, halibut, or salmon for best results in the air fryer.
- Prep your fillets:Ā Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps achieve a crispy exterior.
- Marinate for flavor:Ā Marinate your fish fillets in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and herbs for at least 30 minutes before air frying for enhanced flavor.
- Season generously:Ā Season your fish fillets with a combination of lemon pepper, onion powder, black pepper, and a pinch of salt for a well-rounded flavor profile.
- Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes before adding the fish. This ensures even cooking and a crispy exterior.
- Use parchment paper:Ā Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper to prevent the fish from sticking and to make cleanup easier.
- Arrange in a single layer:Ā Place the fish fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching each other to ensure even cooking.
- Don't overcrowd:Ā Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to allow hot air to circulate around the fillets for crispy results.
- Cook time:Ā Depending on the thickness of the fillets, cook for 8-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is golden brown and cooked through.
- Check for doneness:Ā Use a fork to gently flake the fish to check for doneness. It should be opaque and easily flake apart.
- Serve with sauces:Ā Serve the air fryer fish fillets with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or a squeeze of lemon juice for added flavor.
- Pair with sides: Accompany your air fryer fish fillets with your favorite side dishes such as crispy French fries, coleslaw, or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
- Make fish tacos:Ā Use the air fryer fish fillets to make delicious fish tacos by serving them in warm tortillas with shredded cabbage, avocado, and a drizzle of lime crema.
- Store leftovers properly:Ā Store any leftover fish fillets in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes until warmed through.
- Try air fryer fish sticks: Cut the fish fillets into strips before air frying for homemade air fryer fish sticks that are perfect for dipping in your favorite sauces.
